Ingredients:

  • 1 pack udon noodles
  • 8-10 shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 ribeye or sirloin steak, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 yellow onion, sliced
  • 4 tablespoons vegetable oil, divided
  • 1/2 cup bell pepper, chopped
  • 1/2 cup bok choy, chopped (green parts only)
  • Green onion, sliced
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Sauce:

  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 1 teaspoon hoisin sauce
  • 2 teaspoons rice vinegar or mirin
  • 2 teaspoons soy sauce
  • 2 teaspoons brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together all the sauce ingredients. Set aside.
  2. Cook the udon noodles: Cook the udon noodles according to package instructions. Drain and toss with a little oil to prevent sticking.
  3. Season the steak: Season the steak with salt and pepper.
  4. Cook the steak: Heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the steak and cook until browned on all sides, about 1-2 minutes per side. Remove from the pan and set aside.
  5. Cook the shrimp: Add another tablespoon of oil to the pan. Add the shrimp and cook for 2-3 minutes per side, or until pink and cooked through. Remove from the pan and set aside.
  6. Sauté the vegetables: Add the remaining tablespoon of oil to the pan. Add the onions, peppers, and bok choy and cook for 3-4 minutes, or until softened.
  7. Assemble the dish: Add the cooked udon noodles, sauce, steak, and shrimp to the pan with the vegetables. Toss to coat everything evenly with the sauce.
  8. Garnish and serve: Garnish with sliced green onions and serve immediately.

Tips:

  • You can substitute chicken or tofu for the steak in this recipe.
  • If you don’t have oyster sauce, you can use an additional tablespoon of soy sauce or fish sauce.
  • To make this dish spicier, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the sauce.
