How to Make Chinese-Style Shrimp and Vegetables
This recipe is fast—so prep all your vegetables first!
🔪 Step 1: Chop the Vegetables
Cut all the vegetables into even pieces so they cook at the same rate.
Keep the broccoli separate because it cooks faster than the rest.
🍤 Step 2: Season & Cook the Shrimp
Season shrimp with:
- Garlic powder
- Onion powder
- Paprika
- Black pepper
- Soy sauce
Cook in a pan with sesame oil for 1–2 minutes per side, then add a small piece of butter so they stay juicy.
Remove and set aside.
🥕 Step 3: Stir-Fry the Vegetables
In a larger pan or wok, add sesame oil, garlic, and ginger.
Cook 2–3 minutes.
Add:
- Onions
- Carrots
- Celery
- Peppers
- Pumpkin or chayote
Stir-fry until slightly softened.
Add soy sauce to taste — adjust it based on how savory you want it.
🥦 Step 4: Add Broccoli
Add the broccoli once the other vegetables begin to soften.
This keeps it crunchy and fresh.
🍛 Step 5: Combine Everything
Add the shrimp back to the pan.
Pour in:
- More soy sauce
- Oyster sauce
- A splash of water if needed
Dissolve 1 tablespoon cornstarch in a bit of water and stir it in.
Cook for 3–4 minutes until the sauce thickens.
🍽️ Step 6: Serve
Serve hot with white rice and enjoy a plate full of color and flavor!
