Baked Cinnamon-Glazed Apple Fritters

Ingredients

For the fritters:

  • ¾ cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • ½ tsp ground nutmeg
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 6 tbsp cold unsalted butter, cubed
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chopped apples (firm varieties like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)

For the glaze:

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp milk (or cream)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

Preheat & Prep
Preheat oven to 400 °F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.

Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large bowl, whisk flour, brown sugar, baking powder, spices, and salt. Cut in the cold butter until the mixture looks like coarse crumbs.

Add Wet Ingredients
Whisk together milk, egg, and vanilla. Fold into dry ingredients until just combined. Gently fold in the chopped apples.

Scoop & Bake
Using a ¼-cup scoop, drop batter on prepared baking sheet, spacing about 2 inches apart. Bake for 12–14 minutes until lightly golden and set.

Broil (Optional for a Crusty Top)
If desired, switch the oven to broil and toast the tops for 2–3 minutes—watch closely!

Make the Glaze
While fritters bake, whisk powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth and pourable.

Glaze & Serve
Once fritters are warm, brush glaze on top. Let set about 5 minutes. Serve warm!

Tips & Variations

  • Overripe apples? Great! They add extra sweetness. Just reduce brown sugar slightly.
  • Make it seasonal: Add a pinch of allspice for holiday vibes.
  • Make mini fritters: Use a tablespoon scoop and reduce bake time to about 8–10 minutes.

Serving Ideas

  • Enjoy with warm apple cider or a latte.
  • Pair with vanilla ice cream for dessert.
  • Pack leftovers—perfect for breakfast on the go.
